CID Circulars
1. The International Dance Council CID keeps its active members informed via
Internet by monthly newsletters issued by the President's Office. This is one of the
permanent programs of the CID. These programs have necessarily a world-wide
scope: matters of national or local range are excluded. Languages are English
and/or French; being constitutionally the two working languages of CID, translation
from one to the other is not obligatory. The editors reserve the right to accept a
news item; they bear no responsibility for the accuracy of information submitted.
2. Circulars are strictly non-commercial, since CID has nothing to sell.
Announcements are member-to-member information. Invitations are addressed to
individuals, dance schools or dance ensembles in their capacity as CID members.
No advertisements will be included and no fee asked by CID for posting an
announcement.
3. Subjects included are: 3.1. Scholarships, grants, bursaries and other forms of financial assistance to
dancers, choreographers, teachers, researchers and others involved in dance, as
dispensed by non-profit institutions, foundations and state or private agencies.
3.2. Invitations to dance ensembles or individuals to perform, to teach or to lecture.
The hosting organization must be an active CID member or include several CID
members in its governing body.
3.2. Calls for participation in conferences, workshops, festivals etc. where active
CID members have advantages over non-members, such as an important discount
in fees, precedence in registration or in treatment, preferential use of facilities etc.
3.1. New books or DVDs authored or edited by CID members.
4. Criteria for the inclusion of news items are: 4.1. Space available: since Circulars have to be very short to remain effective and
not tire readers.
4.2. Scope: which is proportional to the number of countries involved in the
organization of the event.
4.3. Range: that is the number of members world-wide liable to be interested or to
take part.
4.4. Particularity: CID Circulars are not meant to supplant dance magazines or
national newsletters by entering the domain of dance journalism or dance criticism.
4.5. Involvement: that is the degree to which CID is participating in organizing the
event.
4.6. Cohesion: precedence is given to messages promoting cooperation and the
establishment of bonds between members.
